Every year, our company comes together to celebrate the year in review and to honor the winners of Shiel Sexton’s most prestigious awards. This year, our virtual celebration recognized five outstanding recipients for these awards. Other employees were recognized for graduating from Site Leadership Academy as well.

Timothy J. Sexton Citizenship Award: Doryaun Harvey, Help Desk Technician

Doryaun exceeds expectations at his job while also taking the opportunity to have an impact on the lives of children. He teaches students who come through the Providence Cristo Rey High School work study program for Informational Technology. Doryaun teaches technical skills while allowing students to ask questions and explore for themselves. He takes a vested interest in the student’s lives and fully believes in Cristo Rey program. His overall commitment to his coworkers and mentoring service are what made him this year’s winner.

Rising Star Office/Management: Nolan Schafer, Assistant Project Manager

Nolan began his career at Shiel Sexton as a project engineer was an example given when others described how a Project Engineer should operate. Now as an assistant project manager, he is passing on those traits to the project engineers he works with. Nolan is sharp on all phases of the job – from the beginning preconstruction phases all the way to the end of the project. He demonstrates the characteristics of a rising star by embracing the Shiel Sexton culture, corporate ethics and shows an overall commitment to the Shiel Sexton team by bringing those up around him.

Richard C. Shiel Award of Excellence Field Workforce: Joannis Koulisianis, Carpenter

Joannis started at Shiel Sexton as a carpenter in 2013. He is known for his thorough and quality of work. In recent years, his leadership traits have really shined through. Joannis arrives on the jobsite every day and gives his all to do the job right. Recently, he took ownership of the carpentry self-performance portion of the Purdue Memorial Union Hotel. This included the installation of glass shower doors and other restroom accessories. During this time, he provided weekly updates and manpower needs all while managing three other crew members.

Rising Star Field Workforce: J.D Kieffer Jr., Foreman

J.D. began his career at Shiel Sexton in August 2018. In his relatively short time here, he has acclimated to Shiel Sexton’s culture. He shows up every day on time with a game plan in mind and always displays quality work. He has made a positive impact on jobsites including the Bottleworks District, Ball State University, and Park Tudor. J.D continues to prove he is a rising star, and we look forward to seeing where he goes from here.

Richard C. Shiel Award of Excellence Office/Management: Becky Shotts, Senior Estimator

Becky joined Shiel Sexton’s estimating department in 2015 working on smaller renovation projects which she excelled at. She was then challenged with larger, more complex projects. Becky has consistently executed any project challenges and her hard work, dedication, and attention to detail is unmatched. She is willing to help out anyone in the department by sharing her knowledge of what it takes to be an excellent estimator.
