As we say “goodbye” to 2019, we are overwhelmed with enthusiasm for the beginning of a new decade. These past ten years have treated Shiel Sexton well, and we are grateful for our many accomplishments and relationships we have made along the way.

We have had an outstanding year with many notable moments. Early in 2019, Kevin Hunt transitioned into his role as President and Chief Operating Officer. We hosted a variety of events in our offices, including our  Diversity Open House and Women’s Networking Group educational seminars. During the summer, our bright intern class helped us navigate an extremely busy construction season. Additionally, we celebrated our third year as a 100% employee-owned company with Beyond the Build 2019 in October.

We completed more than 300 projects this year across all seven business units. Indy Construction finished projects in our backyard, including KAR Global Headquarters in Carmel, the downtown Indianapolis Business Journal Headquarters, and the dormakaba expansion. We also completed projects in other areas around the Midwest, like the Vanderbilt Marriott Nashville Public Space and The Offices at the Sutton in Columbus. The Carolinas Region celebrated the grand openings of two senior living communities, Watercrest Columbia and The Aspens at Bedford Falls in Raleigh. The concrete division spent time on many high-profile projects, including the Ball State University North Dining Hall and FedEx Sort Expansion. Anova continued work with Corteva across the United States and as the Owner’s Technical Representative for IU Health’s Regional Academic Health Center in Bloomington. Shiel Sexton Real Estate has pursued several opportunities in Marion and Hamilton County, while S3 and BAM rentals grew their client base. We are thankful for our employees, clients, and partners, and cannot wait to see what 2020 will bring! Check out a video of our year in review!
