A recent study reported that 25 percent of baby boomers are moving to be close to their adult children and grandchildren.  According to Meyers Research, LLC, they also estimate that approximately 10,000 baby boomers turn 65 every single day, which is about 7 per minute[1].

Construction trends in senior living are shifting to accommodate the wants and needs of baby boomers and Shiel Sexton is witnessing that first-hand as our teams have been working hard the past 18 months to bring online 386 senior living units to the Carolinas.  The one thing all three facilities have in common… plenty of amenities and all conveniently located within the community.

The Aspens at Bedford Falls in Raleigh (ranked as the 3rd most popular city for Baby Boomers[2]) opens early this Fall with 182 units dedicated to premier senior living with bounds of amenities and recreational options including an outdoor pool with cabana pool house, multiple dining options, a bar, theatre, game room for social gatherings, and beautifully landscaped grounds.  The Aspens focuses on providing active seniors with everything they need all within the community.

Teaming with Watercrest Senior Living, Shiel Sexton is constructing two senior living communities, one in Columbia, SC, and one in Fort Mill, SC, located just outside of Charlotte. This area has been identified as the most popular region for relocating baby boomers.[2]

The Watercrest communities both focus on providing senior living, assisted living and memory care options for South Carolina residents.  Keeping on trend, the luxury facilities offer plenty of resort-style amenities including a spa, wine bistro, pool, multiple indoor and outdoor dining venues and family kitchens with large community rooms to host family dinners or entertain larger private dinners in addition to children’s play space areas.

The Columbia facility will open this Fall 2019, with Fort Mill scheduled to open its doors in early 2020.
