Shiel Sexton’s 27th annual United Way campaign ended last week, concluding a week of generosity and great fun in Indianapolis and Charlotte.

The SSCares team kicked off the weeklong campaign with a luncheon on Friday, March 23. Corporate Engagement Manager, Brandon Cobb, from United Way of Central Indiana gave an inspirational presentation to launch the campaign and motivate the audience to donate either time or money to Indianapolis’s United Way-affiliated agencies. In Charlotte, Maggie Will and David Dulin, Relationship Managers from United Way Central Carolinas, and Adam Cline, Major Donations Director from Crisis Assistance Ministries joined the office for lunch. They kicked off the campaign with a few local stories of how United Way has helped the community. Adam then explained how our donations would specifically benefit their organization. Both groups offered additional ways to get involved with community organizations.

Both Shiel Sexton offices participated in two delicious events on Wednesday, March 28.  Indianapolis’s employees competed in the office’s second annual chili cook-off, the Chili Bowl. Forty-one employees tasted samples from twelve contestants’ chili then cast their ballot for their favorite. Project Manager Jay Hostetter took home first place, Accountant Brenda Sharpe followed in second, and Assistant Superintendent Barry Billman rounded out the top three. The Charlotte office and jobsites received a sweet reminder to give to United Way of Central Carolina – donuts!

This year, Shiel Sexton raised over $31,000. These donations will make a great impact on our Indianapolis and Charlotte communities. Thank you to everyone who made Shiel Sexton’s 2018 United Way campaign a success!
