Shiel Sexton Intern Spotlight…

Colt Spangler is a Sophomore at Purdue University where he is studying Construction Engineering and Management.

What projects will you be working on/are involved with this summer?

Over the next few months, I will be working on the Purdue Gateway project.

Have you worked at Shiel Sexton before?

I have not worked at Shiel Sexton previously.

What is your past internship experience (if any)?

This is my first internship experience.

What are you hoping to learn this summer with this internship?

What I am hoping to learn this summer is what profession or exact job I’m most interested in within construction. There are many jobs out there in the construction industry so determining what career path I can go down would be very beneficial.

How will this internship advance your career?/ Where would you like your career to go?

This internship will give me the knowledge and experience needed in the construction field. By the time I graduate, I would like to be hired full-time as either a Project Manager, Project Engineer, or Superintendent. My time here over the summer will definitely help me determine what role will fit me best.

What do you like about working at Shiel Sexton?

I like the culture and environment that Shiel Sexton provides. After the first few days of my internship, I have been fully welcomed and included by my mentor and even others in the trailer.
