On October 14, 2016, the brand new Purdue University Early Care & Education Center opened its doors to the community with a grand opening and dedication ceremony for the facility’s Morris Levy Playground. Plans for the 16,400 SF facility came to life when the University’s Child Care Task Force realized the need for increased childcare options for Purdue staff and faculty, with existing facilities operating at 100% capacity. The new center now offers affordable care to an additional 140 children.

The center provides a unique experience for the children and families it serves with spaces dedicated to enhanced programming and indoor play along with a 20,000 SF natural playground, “named in honor of Morris “Morry” Levy… in appreciation of his leadership and tireless work in establishing and following through on the promises of the Child Care Task Force,” said Trent Kingerman, Vice President for Human Resources.

Shiel Sexton was honored to serve as the Construction Manager for this notable project, which included extensive concrete and site work to construct the beautifully designed outdoor playground.

“This project features some of our most intricate concrete work,” said Shiel Sexton project manager, Dirk Dudeck. “Our concrete division did a great job and this is an awesome place for kids to play!”
