As virtual classes are ending for the semester, Shiel Sexton is gearing up the next group of interns for the summer. This year we’re fortunate enough to host 18 interns across 10 jobsites in Indiana, North Carolina, and Ohio.
Orientation for the interns was held June 1st, 2020, with social distancing practices in place. They will be responsible for assisting project teams while learning the construction field with a hands-on approach. Given the current COVID-19 safety regulations, interns will be faced with communication, jobsite, and safety challenges others have not dealt with in the past.
Safety Director Ray Lake explains, “We are giving interns a specific safety orientation to ensure that they understand and have the opportunity to ask questions if they haven’t been around an active construction site. They will also receive a site-specific orientation once they are assigned a project.”
We are looking forward to another great summer with Shiel Sexton interns across jobsites and in the office!
