Construction of the Riley Children’s Health Sports Legends Experience at The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis is in full swing. Shiel Sexton crews have been making steady progress on the 7.5-acre, sports themed outdoor exhibit. The first sports feature under construction is a miniature golf course – part of the Pete & Alice Dye-designed Golf Experience presented by Henry and Christine Camferdam.

Each miniature golf hole in the Golf Experience is a small-scale replica of an actual hole chosen by Pete and Alice Dye from one of their signature courses around the world. The first hole completed (pictured left) was modeled after hole #11 at the Pete Dye Course at French Lick Resort, French Lick, Indiana. Based on the finished results of this first hole, the miniature course will be very impressive. In addition to two advanced level 9-hole courses, the Golf Experience will also feature two smaller 9-hole courses for toddler and intermediate golfers to practice and play.

COST of Wisconsin, a themed and specialty construction company, was selected to perform the elaborate concrete work necessary to build such a unique miniature golf course. Their award winning projects can be seen all over the United States from Wrigley Field to the new The World of Avatar in Disney World®, and now at The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis.

Progress will continue on the outdoor sports exhibit with additional golf holes currently under construction. Demolition of the existing building is also under way to allow for connection of a new pavilion that will house a variety of sports exhibits. Foundations for the new structure will start later this month.
