Birch-Bayh-Merit-Award-small-300x300

Competition was fierce for this year’s Indy Chamber Monumental Awards. The recent awards ceremony honored achievements by individuals and businesses that contribute to excellence in regional construction, economic development, entrepreneurship, workforce development, architecture, design, engineering and public art throughout the Indianapolis region.

Shiel Sexton Company’s (SSC) Birch Bayh Federal Building and US Courthouse was the winner of the 2013 Merit Award for Construction. SSC served as the construction manager as constructor (CMc) for the General Services Administration (GSA) on the renovation of this facility. This $66 million project renovated over 450,000 square feet, providing high performance green building modernizations. The project was awarded LEED® Gold in August 2013.

The CityWay project took home several awards, including top honors, the Monumental Award. SSC was pleased to have been a part of this exciting downtown development, providing construction services on The Alexander Hotel—a world-class business hotel that has been recognized by TripAdvisor as one of the top 10 hot New Hotels in the U.S.

Ivy Tech Community College Corporate College and Culinary Center was honored in several categories as well, including Innovative Reuse and Neighborhood Revitalization. SSC provided construction services on this project, renovating the existing 13-floor luxury hotel into administrative offices, classrooms, culinary labs, computer labs and conference space for Ivy Tech Community College.

Shiel Sexton is proud to have been a part of these monumental projects. We congratulate all team members who made these projects a success.
