IFD-station-5

Shiel Sexton’s new Indianapolis Fire Department Station #5 has achieved LEED® Silver Certification! Located at 21st Street and I-65 on Indy’s near north side, this new two-story, 22,514 square foot fire station was completed in March, 2013. It will serve as the replacement for Station #23 and was designed to resemble the original Station #5 built in 1874. On any given day, this station houses as many as ten firefighters, EMS staff, arson investigators and battalion chief personnel. There are three single-apparatus bays and two drive through bays. In addition to the sleeping and dining quarters, training classrooms and workout facility, this property uniquely features both indoor and outdoor areas designated for Collapse Rescue Training (CRT) including an indoor building collapse simulator.
