Shiel Sexton recently completed the renovation of the Hospitality Beverage Lab at Johnson & Wales University (JWU) in Charlotte.  The 1,560 SF upfit included the complete demolition of two classrooms and redesign of the space into one large sensory beverage lab complete with custom wine racks and a wine cellar, wetbar, barista station, and student work stations. Courses on wine, spirits, brewing arts, as well as coffee and tea appreciation are offered to students of JWU in the new Beverage Lab.  The reconfigured space with upscale finishes features extensive and beautiful views of the downtown skyline.

About a block down the street at the Gateway Center, Shiel Sexton completed a renovation of office space for JWU simultaneously to the Beverage Lab renovation.  The 5,100 SF office suite earned new paint and flooring as well as a new reception area with a custom desk and lighting.  The two projects were completed within a tight ten week deadline utilizing the same Shiel Sexton team and same subcontractors.  Both construction site locations were surrounded by occupied tenants making noise and site cleanup priority items for the team members.

To celebrate the end of a successful project, Superintendent Michael Fite and Project Engineer Teresa Bradley were treated to a four-course meal prepared and served by JWU students focusing their studies on hospitality and food service management.  It was a special treat to end a rewarding project.
