SHIEL SEXTON PROMOTES JOHN ANDREWS TO VICE PRESIDENT OF MARKETING

INDIANAPOLIS – Indianapolis-based construction firm Shiel Sexton Company, Inc. is pleased to announce that John Andrews has been promoted to vice president of marketing.

Andrews, 34, joined the firm in 2003 as business development manager and was later promoted to director of business development. In 2010 he became a partner in the company. Andrews earned a bachelor’s degree from Purdue University in 2000 and a master of business administration from Butler University in 2010.

As vice president of marketing, Andrews oversees all marketing and communications efforts for the company and works closely with the operations group leaders to pursue new clientele and ensure the company’s market groups are aligned with the long term strategic plan.

John serves on the Board of Directors for Develop Indy, Keep Indianapolis Beautiful and is currently the Board Chair for Near North Development Corporation. He is also a member of the Penrod Society and is an active member of Indianapolis’ CEO’s for Cities cluster.

GREEN BUILDING MILESTONE REACHED AT BUTLER UNIVERSITY
April 23, 2010

INDIANAPOLIS – Shiel Sexton’s recently completed Pharmacy and Health Science Building at Butler University has been declared LEED Gold certified.

The new $14.5 million project includes lab space with clean rooms for researchers, two lecture spaces for classes, faculty offices, and a campus data center which is located in the basement for the addition and houses Butler’s new supercomputer.  The Pharmacy and Health Sciences Building also includes an atrium and conference rooms.  The existing facility was renovated providing several student individual and group study areas.

Shiel Sexton now has 13 LEED Certified projects nationwide including, 8 LEED Gold, one of which is Butler University’s Pharmacy and Health Science Building.  Additionally, Shiel Sexton has more than 15 other projects actively pursuing LEED certification and 25 LEED Accredited Professionals across the country.

Shiel Sexton is among the largest construction management/general contracting firm in the Midwest and is consistently ranked as one of America’s Top 400 Contractors, as named by national Engineering News-Record.  In 2009, Shiel Sexton was ranked the Best Place to Work in Indiana (Large Category) through the Indiana Chamber of Commerce.

UNIVERSITY OF NOTRE DAME GEDDES HALL ACHIEVES LEED GOLD
April 16, 2010

INDIANAPOLIS – Shiel Sexton’s recently completed Geddes Hall at University of Notre Dame has been declared LEED Gold certified.

The $12.1 million, 64,000 sf. facility houses the University’s prestigious Center for Social Concern and Institute for Church Life, which outgrew its prior facility. Many significant methods were used to achieve LEED Gold certification; among them were optimized energy performance and low-emitting materials, recycled content, water-efficient landscaping, and alternative transportation options for materials and supplies. In addition, Geddes Hall achieved all 42 LEED NC 2.2 credits projected at the beginning of the design phase of the project.

Andrews, 33, joined the firm in 2003 and currently serves as its Director of Marketing and Business Development. He received a bachelor’s degree from Purdue University in 2000 and will receive an MBA from Butler University in May 2010.

INDIANAPOLIS – Shiel Sexton Company was named the best place to work (large company category) in Indiana by the Indiana Chamber of Commerce.

“It is a true honor to be awarded the Best Place to Work in Indiana,” commented Mike Dilts, President and Chief Operating Officer.  “In all honesty, our employees are what make us succeed. We consider them our most valuable resource, and I dedicate this award to each one of our employees.”

According to the Indiana Chamber, honorees were determined through employer reports and comprehensive employee surveys, with winners selected in two categories: small to medium-sized companies of between 25 and 249 employees; and large-sized companies consisting of 250 or more employees.
