Ivy Tech Celebrates Fall Creek Center Grand Opening

This week the Shiel Sexton team was honored to join officials from Ivy Tech Community College and the City of Indianapolis for the Grand Opening of the new Fall Creek Center. The project was the renovation and addition of a historic building that served the people of Indianapolis from 1913 to 1974 as St. Vincent Hospital.

Shiel Sexton Building New Wabash Facility for Mainstreet Property Group

Mainstreet Property Group selected Shiel Sexton as construction manager for a new 66,000 sf. senior living facility in Wabash, IN. Construction will begin immediately and is scheduled to be completed in December of 2012.

Phase I Nears Completion at Johnson Memorial Hospital Renovation and Expansion

Shiel Sexton is currently working with Johnson Memorial Hospital (Franklin, IN) on their Surgery Addition and Renovation project. With the building enclosure nearly complete and finishes beginning on the addition, the SSC team is currently wrapping up the first phase of construction. SSC is working closely with Johnson Memorial Hospital to coordinate all work as to never disrupt their environment of care.

Shiel Sexton in the Community – Near North Development Corporation

Shiel Sexton and its employees are constantly giving back to the community. Staff members volunteer countless hours, money and support to numerous local nonprofits and organizations. One such community organization is Near North Development Corporation. A platform for community issues, NNDC’s mission is to improve the lives of Near North Indianapolis residents and businesses through neighborhood revitalization and stabilization programs.

Jack Vannice Leaves His Mark

In a career that has spanned 52 years, Jack Vannice has left his mark across Indianapolis and the surrounding region. Jack’s experience began at age 16 with basic trades. He later served his country as a member of the Navy Construction Battalion and worked his first job as superintendent in 1970. Jack came to work for Shiel Sexton four years ago to manage concrete and site work for the Palladium at the Center for the Performing Arts in Carmel, Ind.

Shiel Sexton, Indianapolis Part of Revitalizing Cities Study

After 63 years Indianapolis was once again chosen as the city of choice for the Urban Land Institute’s “Revitalizing Cities” study. The original 1948 study was conducted by 13 members from various cities who sought ways to improve the city’s downtown business district. This year’s study, conducted last June, focused on another area of the city: the site of the recently closed General Motors Stamping Plant, a 102-acre area on the city’s west side. Shiel Sexton employees were among the panel of experts who presented a new vision for the site.

Twenty Years of Bell Ringing

Over the past twenty years, between Thanksgiving and Christmas, Shiel Sexton employees have donned the signature red aprons to volunteer their time as bell ringers for the Salvation Army. Shiel Sexton has developed a strong relationship with the USA Central Territory Salvation Army of Indianapolis, and continues to host a red kettle at Circle Centre Mall during this holiday season.

Indy Parks Projects Make a Splash Around Town

It may be a cold December in Indiana, but the Indianapolis Parks Foundation (IPF) and Indy Parks are already working on new projects to beat next summer’s heat. The IPF and Indy Parks have teamed with Shiel Sexton to create alternative aquatic options across their neighborhood parks.

Tarawa Terrace II Opens at Camp Lejeune

A ribbon cutting ceremony was held on Nov. 18 at Tarawa Terrace, the first new child development facility completed at MCB Camp Lejeune in North Carolina. Naval Facilities Engineering Command (NAVFAC) will be rolling out a total of five new facilities in response to Camp Lejeune’s booming population and ongoing need for childcare. NAVFAC selected Shiel Sexton as Design-Builder/General Contractor for two of its five planned facilities.

Purdue University’s Northwest Athletics Complex Rounding Second

Construction is underway at Purdue University’s Northwest Athletics Facility in Lafayette, IN. Shiel Sexton is constructing the $21 million project that includes a new baseball stadium, Alexander Field, and additions to the adjacent Varsity Soccer Complex.
