Shiel Sexton manages Stanley Security Solution’s facilities and led Stanley through a “lighting change out” that saves over $94,000 annually in direct energy reductions. By becoming more energy efficient, Stanley qualified for an IPL (electric utility) rebate which helped pay for the project.
On May 3, 2012, Shiel Sexton was ranked among the Top 10 Best Places to Work in Indiana by the Indiana Chamber of Commerce. Company rankings were determined through employer reports and comprehensive employee surveys that our Indiana-based employees filled out in January. Shiel Sexton was ranked 10th in the Large Company category (250+ employees).
Shiel Sexton has once again been named a “Top 400 Contractor” by the national publication Engineering News Record. Celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, the company has once again been ranked within the top half of all listed contractors (No. 195).
This month, the Company celebrates 50 years of business. Having spent most of my career with Shiel Sexton, this is a very special milestone. Fifty years in our industry, or any other for that matter, requires the dedication and passion of a lot of people. Of course, we have also had some good luck along the way. I don’t think that makes us unique. I believe that in most cases we have been very effective in responding to opportunity and taking full advantage of the good breaks when they present themselves.
Led by Group Manager of Preconstruction Steve Clymer, the Shiel Sexton estimating group provides detailed complexity analysis and cost estimates for a diverse portfolio of projects that span the company’s commercial, healthcare, education, public works and science & technology disciplines. Since 2000, the department has bid on more than 1,600 negotiated and hard bid jobs with a combined value of more than $17 billion.
Over the years Shiel Sexton has completed several projects on a design-build basis for the United States Postal Service (USPS) across Indiana. Expanding the relationship north, Shiel Sexton has recently begun construction on a major reroof project at the downtown Milwaukee, WI, USPS sort facility.
Donors, staff, students and members of the Shiel Sexton team gathered on April 17 as Bishop Chatard High School broke ground on its new athletic fields, one part of the school’s $4.5 million expansion and renovation plan. Made possible through its ambitious “Golden Opportunities: A 50th Anniversary Capital Campaign,” Bishop Chatard’s athletic fields will be renovated and expanded.
The Shiel Sexton Southeast Region has recently been awarded two projects in Charlotte, NC: Charlotte Christian School and a Retail Shell Building.
