On Friday, April 7th, Shiel Sexton welcomed student members of the Society of Business Management in Architecture. The group of students from University of Illinois are looking to pair their Architecture degree with a Construction Management or Real Estate Development concentration. In addition to visiting with a variety of industry firms around the area, including Taylor Siefker Williams Design, RATIO Architects, Buckingham Companies and CSO Architects, Shiel Sexton gave the students an understanding of the contractor side of the building process.

John Andrews and Heather Devocelle gave a presentation that showcased a variety of projects completed by Shiel Sexton and allowed time for students to ask questions about the company. Following the presentation, the group headed to the Ironworks Hotel construction site for a hard hat tour lead by Superintendent Joe Agresta. The students were given an up-close look at the progress of work underway in the lobby/retail area, hotel rooms, and the penthouse suite of this 101,000 SF high-end boutique hotel currently under construction on Keystone Avenue.

Shiel Sexton was delighted to host this group of students and truly valued the opportunity to provide insight into the building process for this future generation of construction professionals.
