One year ago this month, Shiel Sexton became part of a small group of construction firms with the status of 100% employee owned. This monumental step in our company’s history deserves both recognition and celebration. Therefore, we are committing the last week of September to not only celebrate the anniversary, but take it one step further and experience Shiel Sexton Beyond the Build. Together our employees will celebrate our company, our community and our co-ownership.

Shiel Sexton has always championed that the cornerstone of any business is its connection to the communities it serves. Whether it is through donations of funds and services or the direct involvement of employees with local charities, Shiel Sexton has always taken great pride in its strong community investment. Beyond the Build captures the heart and soul of who we are as a company, and the pride we take in not only building great buildings but building great communities too.

Beyond the Build is designed to reflect on the past year of accomplishments, recharge and prepare our employees for the opportunities ahead and to honor the shared purpose and meaning of what we do – beyond the act of building.

  • Our Projects and Our Company – Time will be spent at each jobsite celebrating our current projects and reminding our employees how fortunate we are to have such talented individuals as a part of our workforce. As you drive by our jobsites, be on the lookout for our Beyond the Build banners!
  • The Communities We Serve – Within our local communities, employees will engage in a day of service as we focus our efforts externally. In Indianapolis, employees are invited to work with Dove Recovery House in a beautification effort. Employees will work to construct a playground for when the residents’ children visit, and also provide other improvements around the perimeter of the building. Our Charlotte team has partnered with North Carolina’s longest running volunteer-based theatre company, Theatre Charlotte, to renovate and improve their grounds. The theatre is located next door to our current jobsite, 511 Queens. Alongside our client and subcontractor partners, our Charlotte employees will be painting, cleaning and rejuvenating the front façade and entrance of the theatre. These two events allow us the chance to have a positive impact on the communities where we work and play.
  • Our Fellow Employee Owners – To cap the week off, we celebrate our employee owners in an evening of camaraderie and festivities as we gather for a reception. We will reflect on our accomplishments over the past year and recharge for the upcoming year.

We are more than builders. We are more than employee owners. We are members of our communities delivering a great experience at every turn. Join us as we experience Beyond the Build 2017!
