On Friday, April 22nd, Shiel Sexton President & CEO, Mike Dilts, was honored as one of two Distinguished Technology Alums from the Purdue Polytechnic Institute, formerly known as Purdue University School of Construction Management Technology.

The awards are presented to alumni who have harnessed the power of their Purdue degrees to positively impact their chosen professions and have changed how today’s technology will improve the world tomorrow. They have enjoyed professional, philanthropic, and personal successes.

Mike Dilts earned his bachelor of science degree in construction management from Purdue in 1981 and a certificate of special studies in business administration from Harvard University in 1985, the same year he joined Shiel Sexton.  Having worked through project management, account management and business development before leading operations, Mike has a hands-on approach to construction that is attributed to his experience in all facets of the industry.  He understands owners’ cost and schedule concerns as well as architectural design and contractor constructability issues. Through organized leadership and a team effort, Mike serves as the catalyst to maximize Shiel Sexton’s operational results in the areas of estimating, preconstruction services, project management and construction supervision.

“This award is a great honor and sincerely means a lot to me,” comments Dilts.  “Technology is important in every industry, especially in construction.  What we do is extremely technical and requires cooperation, skill and hard work from many parties from onsite team members to designers to subcontractors to owners in order for a project to be successfully delivered.  Technology enhances what we do and pushes the boundaries of instant communication.  It’s amazing to see how technology has changed the construction industry in the past 30 years, and there are only bigger and better things to come.”

Mike volunteers his time across multiple community organizations, including the United Way of Central Indiana, Providence Cristo Rey High School, Purdue Foundation Board and Marian University, among others. Mike is very active with Indiana Sports Corp.
