Shiel Sexton is in the early stages of simultaneously constructing Grand Park SpringHill Suites in Westfield, and a Hampton Inn & Suites in Fort Wayne. Both projects will provide the cities of Westfield and Fort Wayne with much needed space for guests visiting the community when complete. Each hotel’s site is located next to popular tourist attractions and will help with easier access to lodging. With rooms designed to accommodate larger families and groups, the increased square footage means guests will not have to purchase as many rooms, saving them money.

The Grand Park SpringHill Suites will be located near one of the biggest sports complexes in the world, Grand Park Sports Complex. The 400-acres sports campus features 31 soccer/multipurpose fields and 26 baseball/softball diamonds in addition to the 370,000 SF Events Center which features three indoor fields, office and meeting space, retail space, and multi-use space for special events.  With events held year-round at the Sports Complex, lodging needs in the area have drastically increased. The Grand Park SpringHill Suites will bring 150 rooms to the market by July 2019 to keep with hospitality demands. After this project, there will be a total of six hotels and a retail center new to the Grand Park area for visitors to enjoy.

Shiel Sexton Project Manager, Chris Metzger adds, “The 150-key hotel will provide convenient lodging needs for some of the 750,000 annual visitors attending events at Grand Park Sports Complex as well as lodging needs for other businesses.”

The Hampton Inn & Suites will be constructed in central downtown Fort Wayne across from the Fort Wayne Convention Center. For the city to be able to host more events, access to additional hotel options were necessary for visitors. A rooftop workout facility and a bar will provide 360-degree views of Fort Wayne, while a Burger Bar walk-up window will be added on the ground floor. The hotel will include 125 rooms – 25% of which will be suites – and 1,550 SF of retail space on the West side. A covered walkway will connect the hotel to the parking lot to save guests from harsh weather elements. This walkway will present a perfect view of the Parkview Field and the city while passing through. This hotel will begin accepting reservations in the summer of 2019.

Shiel Sexton is pleased to be a part of these hospitality projects that will benefit the communities of Westfield and Fort Wayne with growth and better future opportunities.
