Shiel Sexton’s annual Business Diversity Open House affords an opportunity for minority, women, and veteran-owned and small businesses to build stronger relationships and learn about current and prospective Shiel Sexton projects. Companies can gain information on Shiel Sexton’s prequalification process, insurance requirements, and overall project standards.

Mike Dilts, Shiel Sexton Chairman/CEO, advocated the purpose of the event, “The whole idea is to connect face-to-face in order to develop impactful relationships to continue to grow our businesses. We are all in this together; we need to work together and watch out for each other. The more directly connected we are to each other, the easier that happens.”

The City of Indianapolis Director of Minority and Women Business, Camille Blunt, offered her thoughts on the importance of diversity and community development in the industry.

“My goal as Director is to make sure that I’m not only connecting our certified businesses to city opportunities but also private opportunities. I am constantly looking for ways to connect our certified vendors across the state.”

Attendance has increased each year, with this year logging the largest turnout yet.  It was a great success and testament to the value that the community places towards diversity and the importance of small businesses. Shiel Sexton would like to thank everyone who participated in the event!
