Members from Grace Church are enjoying their new home in Fishers, Indiana. The 64,000 SF facility, located at the corner of 126th and Olio Road, had a full 750-seat auditorium at the Church’s first official worship service on December 11, 2016. After an enjoyable experience working with Shiel Sexton on the construction and expansion of their main campus in Noblesville, Grace Church once again chose Shiel Sexton as construction manager for this exciting project.

“Grace Church has partnered with Shiel Sexton for multiple projects in our history,” said David Caudle, Director of Operations for the Fishers campus. “This most recent project has been another great experience. Mike Anderson, Jeff Dillinger, and the entire Shiel Sexton team have been terrific to work with and have constantly pushed us to expect more.

“Working with Shiel Sexton makes the execution of our projects fun and satisfying,” added Phil Pegram, Owner’s Representative. “Grace Church values its relationship with Shiel Sexton. They are a leader in this market for church construction and the quality of their services exceeded our expectations.”

With dramatic lighting, large projection screens, and a state-of-the art sound system, the new auditorium offers a truly immersive worship experience for visitors of the church. The building also includes two wings with classrooms and multifunction space dedicated to youth and mission activities. The exterior has a very modern, non-traditional feel, yet the biblical significance behind the architectural design symbolizes traditional beliefs held by the Church.

“The entire team (Grace Church, Callahan Studios, subcontractors, and of course Shiel Sexton) truly worked as a team on this project, taking on all challenges associated with the unique design of the building,” said Mike Anderson, Senior Project Manager for Shiel Sexton. “The skin of the building is about 50% phenolic panels and 50% EIFS, so the oval shape of the auditorium presented many challenges. Because of our positive working relationship with both the owner and architect, Shiel Sexton was allowed the freedom needed to resolve constructability details and issues at the project level.

“The processes Shiel Sexton has in place focused on the details of the job, and the capacity they have within the organization provided coverage for our changing needs throughout the project,” said Pegram. “Grace Church Fishers was completed ahead of schedule and under budget which is a great benefit to any non-profit organization. Shiel’s project management team exudes integrity and professionalism. They worked well with the entire construction team including the architect, his consultants, and the other subcontractors onsite.”

Shiel Sexton is proud to have completed another great project with Grace Church and we look forward to continuing our partnership throughout the development of their master plan.
