Chief Financial Officer
After spending 25 years in a variety of accounting and finance positions both in public accounting and with a major insurance corporation, Dan joined Shiel Sexton as CFO in 2007. He holds a bachelor’s degree in management with a specialization in accounting from Purdue. At Shiel Sexton, Dan is responsible for the day-to-day leadership of our accounting, finance and information technology efforts. Dan serves on the Purdue Athletic Advisory Council and the Pilgrim Lutheran Church Benefaction Fund. Dan and his wife Marla have five children and volunteer time together at Gleaners Food Bank of Indiana and Gennesaret Free Clinic.
Vice President, Special Projects
Tom joined Shiel Sexton in 1996 and is credited with project management involvement in some of the company’s most notable projects. Tom has developed a management team that actively mentors project management staff to take the next step in their respective careers through experience on large-scale projects riddled with complex construction challenges. As Vice President of Special Projects, Tom is responsible for leading the charge during construction and the daily execution of the construction plan as established during the preconstruction phase by him and the rest of the preconstruction team.
Vice President, Marketing
John is responsible for the company’s business development and marketing efforts. As Vice President Marketing, he works closely with the operations group leaders to pursue new clientele and ensure the company’s groups are aligned with the long term strategic plan. John is a Purdue University graduate and holds an MBA from Butler University. Active in the community, John serves on the Board of Directors for Develop Indy, Keep Indianapolis Beautiful and is currently the Board Chair for Near North Development Corporation. He is also a member of the Penrod Society and is an active member of Indianapolis’ CEO’s for Cities cluster.
General Counsel
Kris joined Shiel Sexton in 1999, becoming the first general counsel for the growing firm. With over 20 years of experience in construction law and business litigation, her legal background has been a valuable asset to Shiel Sexton. Kris serves on several boards, including: Methodist Health Foundation, the Indiana Repertory Theatre and the Indianapolis 500 Festival Board of Directors.
President, Southeast Region
Ben is responsible for overall construction operations in the Southeast Region. He provides overall leadership, execution of strategic objectives, client management and community investment. Shiel Sexton’s southeast regional office has built a significant client base and is ranked among the ENR Southeast Top 100 Contractors. Ben serves on the Board of Advisors for the Charlotte Chamber, Executive Committee for Charlotte YMCA at Gateway Village, Advisory Board Member with Greater Charlotte Hospitality and Tourism Alliance, and is a youth coach for YMCA of Greater Charlotte. Ben is an alumnus of the Leadership Charlotte Class XXX.
Executive Vice President
After graduating from Indiana University in accounting, Buddy joined Price Waterhouse, eventually becoming the tax partner in charge of its Indianapolis office. Before joining Shiel Sexton, he also spent eight years as the owner/manager of a private real estate equity firm. Buddy is a Certified Public Accountant and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Indiana CPA Society.
Managing Partner/CEO
Mike joined Shiel Sexton in 1985 after graduating from Purdue University in 1981 and a five-year stint with a national construction company in Boston. Mike worked through project management, account management and business development before leading operations.
As CEO and President, Mike is responsible for assuring that operations will meet and exceed Shiel Sexton’s strategic goals and objectives. Mike understands Owners’ cost and schedule concerns as well as architectural design and contractor constructability issues. Mike volunteers his time across multiple community organizations, including: United Way of Central Indiana, Providence Cristo Rey High School, Purdue Foundation Board, Marian University and the Super Bowl 2012 committee, among others. A graduate of the Lacy Leadership Series XVII, Mike also earned a CCS is Business Administration from Harvard University.
Managing Partner
Brian began his career in 1978 researching and publishing for the Indiana construction industry and in 1984 became director of marketing for one of the area’s leading general contractors.
In 1977 Brian joined Shiel Sexton as a Partner in charge of business development. Brian is currently Managing Partner and is responsible for Shiel Sexton’s strategic initiatives and business development. Brian is active on several committees, including: Arts Council of Indianapolis, Indianapolis Cultural Trail Inc., Greater Indiana Chamber of Commerce, Indiana Chamber of Commerce, the Indianapolis Children’s Museum, Greater Indianapolis Progress Committee and Indianapolis Economic Development Commission, among others.
Vice President
Kevin has been with Shiel Sexton since 1990, where his primary responsibilities include attracting, developing and retaining project management, support and field staff. Through his efforts, Shiel Sexton has been very successful in recruiting and retaining top talent and is consistently ranked among the “Best Places to Work in Indiana.” Kevin serves on the board and executive committee of the Metro Indianapolis Coalition for Construction Safety, board of Millersville at Fall Creek Valley, and is involved with many community groups, including: Junior Diabetes Association, American Cancer Society, Salvation Army and Big Brothers Big Sisters. Kevin has a bachelor’s degree from Indiana University.
Chief Operating Officer
Since 1989, Kevin has been a trailblazer for Shiel Sexton, helping the firm expand to new markets and mentoring numerous employees. Kevin successfully led the business development and preconstruction groups prior to rejoining operations as vice president. As Chief Operating Officer, Kevin is responsible for overall management of all construction projects. Kevin has a bachelor’s degree in supervision from Purdue University and serves on the board of directors for Indianapolis-based Forum Credit Union and Business Higher Education Forum for Independent Colleges of Indiana. Kevin is active with the Indiana Subcontractor Association.
